Community

Kim believes in the value of giving back. She contributes her art and time to her community by working along side of local services and organizations. Kim gets the most inspiration working with children. She believes being creative helps build the tools they need to express themselves, especially with so many learning disabilities.

Kim has worked with special needs children. Assisting and hands on helping them create collages and various chalk drawings. ADHD & Autism is so wide spread today and the degrees of it are incredibly broad. Its a challenge to connect with some of the students, while others flourish in the art sessions. I do believe that art is critical to some of these children in allowing them to express themselves. To see them smile and get excited over a piece of art they made or drew just makes it all worth it.

Packanack Elementary School, Wayne NJ

Kim put a mural project together in a local public school. Teaching the students how to design and paint a mural. She incorporated a theme to create animal awareness. She quotes, "I had the students help with the entire project. Starting with a concept, to layout and finally a title, we named our mural: The Endangered Jungle." Due to the fact that only the art students were involved, Kim created a tile border that allowed any student in the entire school who wanted to be involved to be able to paint their own special animal and or message. Over a 100 tiles were painted by the schools students and incorporated into this colorful border.

Village School, Waldwick, NJ

Kim donated time and materials for a school event. She created a larger than life cornucopia for the school wall.
